Dylan Bram

  Dylan Bram   Dylan Bram is a percussionist and educator based in Columbus, Ohio. Dylan was a member of the front ensemble in Matrix World from 2013-2016 and performed with Matrix International in Chaiyi City, Taiwan in 2016. This will be Dylan’s second year on staff with both Matrix World and Matrix Open.  Outside of Matrix, Dylan has served as front ensemble instructor, arranger, and private lesson teacher at Olentangy High School since 2014 and at Hilliard Bradley High School since 2016. He has served in similar capacities with Groveport Madison High School, Delaware Hayes High School, and other Columbus-area schools. Dylan was a member of the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps from 2011-2012, and he currently serves as a front ensemble instructor with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.   Dylan performs regularly as a jazz vibraphonist in the Columbus area. Some notable performances include a regular concert series at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute as well appearances with the Liz Woolley Band at the Columbus Jazz and Ribs Festival, Blu Jazz+ (Akron, OH), and other popular Columbus venues. Dylan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from The Ohio State University, where he studied jazz improvisation and composition with Kris Johnson.

Cory Doran

 Cory Doran  Cory Doran is currently Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Texas A&M University Commerce, Front Ensemble coordinator and instructor for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and Ensemble Instructor for Matrix Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble. He also works as a music arranger for Ferguson Design Solutions. Cory received his Master’s degree (2011) in Music Performance from Texas A&M University Commerce under the instruction of Dr. Brian Zator and his Undergraduate degree (2009) in Music Performance from Youngstown State University under the instruction of Dr. Glenn Schaft.  Previously, Cory held the position as Percussion Director at Hilliard Bradley High School in Hilliard, OH. Cory has instructed throughout northeast Ohio, northeast Texas, and Pittsburgh as a front ensemble specialist as well as concert percussion and drum set clinician. As a teacher, he has made a name for himself as a front ensemble instructor for Matrix Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble (2009- present), the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2015- present), and Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2009-2011).  In addition to his involvement in education, Cory is also a freelance percussionist and composer/arranger. He has written for Hilliard Bradley, y-Me Percussion group in Milan, Italy, Revelation Indoor Percussion, Amhurst High School Indoor Percussion, Impulse Indoor Percussion, Texas A&M University- Commerce marching percussion section, and Grove City High School front ensemble. Performing groups include the Columbus top 40 band “The Popbillies,” Country band “Union Rose,” and “Tangent Impact Percussion Project.”

Rocco Duranti

  Rocco Duranti   Rocco currently lives in Akron, OH and is an active marching band instructor at Firestone High School and Norton High School. Rocco has taught various schools throughout Ohio and Indiana in the last few years, ranging from teaching visual, to being a band director. Rocco teaches visual, music, movement, and choreography for high schools in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, and California.   In addition to marching band and indoor percussion, Rocco has been teaching drum corps since he aged out of the activity. His teaching career started at the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013-2014, and he has been on the visual staff at the Phantom Regiment since 2015. Rocco's performance career is unique throughout the activity.  He started off as a euphonium performer at the Glassmen from 2009-2012.  His indoor experience began at Matrix from 2011-2013. Most recently, Rocco performed with Onyx World color guard in 2017. Rocco is ecstatic to be back for his fourth year with Matrix!

Daniel Everett

  Daniel Everett   Daniel currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA, where he serves as a percussion instructor for Marching Band, Concert Percussion ensembles, and private lessons. Daniel performed with Matrix World from 2013-2016 in their front ensemble, and also has performed with the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps in 2012. Daniel holds a B.S.E in Computer Engineering, as well as a B.S in Computer Science and a B.S in Applied Mathematics from Geneva College (2016).  Professionally, Daniel works as an Embedded Software Engineer, where he develops both software and hardware in the area of high-precision machine automation. He spends his free time tinkering with electronics hardware as well as programming for said hardware. Daniel has goals to pursue his Masters in Digital Signal Processing, enabling him to meld his interests in technology and music in the near future.  This will be Daniel's first year on staff with both Matrix World and Matrix Open. He is excited to bring his unique technical expertise and performance experience to the table, aiding in the instruction and electronic coordination of both front ensembles.

Julian Goldthwaite

Julian has been a quad tech for Matrix in 2010 and 2013 as well as being a Matrix Open battery tech in 2017. Julian marched Matrix quad line in 2005 through the 2007 seasons. Julian has also been a quad tech for the Glassmen from 2008 through 2010. Julian marched with Bluecoats quad line in 2003, 2006, and 2007.

Julian is currently the percussion director at Marion Harding High School, a percussion instructor with Norton Indoor Percussion, as well as the director and performer of the percussion ensemble for the Cleveland Cavaliers the "Qstix".

Mitchell Ibarra

  Mitchell Ibarra   Mitchell Ibarra has performance experience as a snare drummer with the WVU Drumline in 2012-2014, the Penn State Indoor Drumline in 2014, as well as the Hawthorne Caballeros DBC in 2014 and 2015. Mitchell was also a performer with the George Mason Indoor Drumline in 2015, White Sabers DBC 2017, and was a member of Carolina Crown 2016 where upon completion of the competitive season he was given the opportunity to perform with the Carolina Crown Percussion Section at PASIC 2016. Mitchell was a member of Matrix Performing Arts for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.  Mitchell currently resides in Haymarket, VA where he is a percussion instructor for Battlefield High School while studying to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from NVCC.  This will be Mitchell's first year on staff with Matrix World.

April Jonker

  April Jonker   April Jonker has previously performed as a bass drummer with Legends Drum & Bugle Corps for 5 consecutive seasons from 2007-2011, as well as Carolina Crown in 2012 and 2013. She was a founding member of Legends PIA in 2011, and was a member of Matrix in 2013 and 2014. April has served as a percussion instructor for Parchment High School and Mattawan High School in Southwest Michigan, as well as Bellbrook High School in Southwest Ohio. In 2016, she performed for the 2016 Chiayi City International Band Festival in Chiayi City, Taiwan.  April holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in Painting and a Minor in Textile and Apparel Merchandising from Western Michigan University. She is currently the Public Relations Coordinator for Fred J. Miller Inc., and frequently assists and consults with the Stretchwear Sales and Design department. She currently resides in Dayton, Ohio.  This will be April’s 3rd season on staff with Matrix World.

David Loughin

Dave Loughin lives in Pittsburgh, PA and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing at the University of Pittsburgh. Originally from Portland, Oregon, this is Dave’s first year on staff with Matrix. Previously, he had marched with the Oregon Crusaders drum corps in 2007, 2009, and 2013 on baritone, bottom bass, and tuba respectively. He also performed with OCIndoor in 2009 in the front ensemble and in 2014 on cymbals. From 2009 until 2013, he served on active duty in the Marine Corps with one deployment to Afghanistan and another aboard the USS Gunston Hall.

After aging out, Dave spent 2 years on staff with OCIndoor as a cymbal and visual technician, and he has been on staff with Oregon Crusaders for the past 4 years as a visual tech and occasionally as a cymbal tech. In addition to working with independent groups, he has 5 years of experience working with a few high schools in the Pacific Northwest and Pennsylvania. Outside of the pageantry arts, Dave is trying to establish himself as a writer of memoir essays.

Josh Mitchell

  Josh Mitchell   Josh Mitchell started his performing career as a bass drummer with Wake Forest Independent, as a founding member, for 4 consecutive seasons from 2010-2013; as well as Carolina Gold Drum & Bugle Corps in 2011 and 2012. He continued his performing with Phantom Regiment in 2013 and was a member of Matrix in 2014. Josh has served as a percussion instructor for various high schools in VA, NC, IN, MI, and OH. He continued his instruction at Pioneer Drum & Bugle Corps from 2014-2016, where he served as the battery caption head in ’15 and ‘16. He just finished serving as a bass tech for Legends Drum & Bugle Corps. Josh also performed with Matrix International at the 2016 Chiayi City International Band Festival in Chiayi City, Taiwan.  Josh currently serves as the Director of Percussion for Norton High School in Norton, OH. Josh also performs for the Cleveland Cavaliers with the Qstix entertainment team. Josh is an Innovative Percussion Educational Artist.  This will be Josh’s 4th season on staff with Matrix Performing Arts.

  Josh Nees   Josh Nees began his marching percussion career in 2008 with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps. He performed on the quad line until his age out season in the summer of 2012. During this time he was also a member of Matrix, marching the quad line from 2010-2013. After his marching career, Josh spent the next two years with the Cleveland Browns Drum Line from 2013-2014. Josh has devoted much of his time as a high school percussion instructor around Northeast Ohio. He has worked with the bands at Norton, Firestone, New Philadelphia, and Nordonia High School, as well as devoting time to the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. Josh has performed abroad at the 2008 Indoor Percussion Europe Championships in Belgium and in the 2016 Chiayi City International Band Festival in Taiwan. Josh has performed with the Cleveland Cavalier’s Q-Stix at the 2016 NBA All Star Game held in Toronto.  Josh is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University with a degree in Mathematics. He is currently the drum line instructor for Kent State University and Firestone High School, and will be performing with the Q-Stix for a 4th season.  This will be Josh’s 5th season working with the battery for Matrix Performing Arts.

Ryan Reed

  Ryan Reed   Ryan Reed is a percussion specialist from the Northeast Ohio area. He is currently the Director of Percussion for New Philadelphia High School, where his responsibilities include teaching, and arranging for, the percussion section of the marching band, teaching private lessons and Director of the Indoor Percussion Ensemble (2015 WGI PSCO Silver Medalist). Ryan is also the Director of Percussion at Carrollton High School, where his responsibilities include teaching, and arranging for, the percussion section of the marching band, teaching private lessons, Director of the Percussion Ensemble and Director of the Steel Band. Additionally, Ryan serves as a front ensemble instructor for Matrix (WGI PIW Finalist) and Matrix Open (WGI PIO Finalist). In 2016, Ryan joined the design team of Skyliners' Drum and Bugle Corps (DCA) as the front ensemble arranger. Previously, Ryan served as a front ensemble instructor for the Empire Statesmen Drum and Bugle Corps (DCA), Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI), Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI), Notre Dame Indoor Percussion Ensemble (WGI) and front ensemble instructor/coordinator for Capital City Percussion (WGI).  Ryan received a B.M. in Music Education from Kent State University where he studied percussion with Ted Rounds. Aylin Vural

Aylin currently lives in Akron, OH and is Colorguard Director and Designer at Kent State University-as well as choreographer for various high schools in Texas, Ohio and Maryland. She also studies Massage Therapy at Northcoast Medical Training Academy. Through the years Aylin has gained varied experiences in dance, solo vocal, instrumental and colorguard - performance and instruction. Her Drum Corps International career started in 2011 with The Glassmen and was followed by 5 consecutive years with the Phantom Regiment – serving as colorguard captain for both the 2015 and 2016 seasons. This past summer (2017), Aylin toured with the Oregon Crusaders as a choreographer and visual staff member. After 5 years as a dancer and visual performer for Matrix Performing Arts, this year marks her 1st year on staff with Matrix. Equipped with a unique career within the pageantry arts, Aylin is enthusiastic about her contribution this season.
